Remembered Forever

It’s safe to say we live in a generation where everyone wants their claim to fame. It’s actually relatively easy to become famous or have a video blow up online. 

We’ve been chasing trends, fame, or just an ounce of recognition from someone else. We get so caught up in it that we forget what we were doing it for in the first place.

And that’s the interesting thing. 

We are doing it for something. 

We post online to receive recognition. We work so hard to receive praise. Or a social status. Or bragging rights.

I think that, deep down, all of us want to be remembered for something. 

That might not be what you immediately admit at first, but if you dig deep enough, we all want to make our life count. And that’s a noble desire indeed. 

But if you miss Who you’re working for, you’ll ultimately miss the why. 

And when you miss the why, you will get caught up in an endless hamster wheel.

We all want to be remembered beyond our lifetimes. We don’t want our lives to fade away into the darkness. 

And so in order to make that happen, we just do more, post more, seek more attention, invent the new thing, climb the higher mountain, and run the longer race.

None of these are bad things.

But if you miss Who you’re doing it for, it will vanish into insignificance. 

You were made to glorify God.

He put those desires and dreams in your heart. But those dreams apart from Him serve no eternal purpose. They will vanish at the end of your life.

But it doesn’t have to be that way.

When you glorify God in every aspect of your life, all of your desires and dreams are submitted to Him. 

And when they’re submitted to Him, He can do so much more with them than you could ever do alone.

We all want to shine in eternity. We want to make our lives count beyond the short time we have here on earth. 

In Daniel 12:3, it says “Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament, and those who turn many to righteousness like the stars forever and ever.”

The wise shall shine. 

Those who are wise in God’s eyes will then turn others to righteousness because they shine so bright. And those who turn others to righteousness will shine forever.

It doesn’t say that those who made the most money will shine forever. 

Or those who had the greatest following. 

Or even those who worked hard.

Those who are wise and turned many to righteousness shine forever. 

And true wisdom only comes from God. 

The wisdom of God has revealed the truth of God’s love for us through His Son, Jesus Christ. This should radically transform our lives, and once it does, others around us will take notice naturally.

It’s a gift we cannot hide or keep contained. 

We were made to share it with others.

We share and then we shine.

So, let this be a reminder that you don’t need to strive before others to make your name remembered. 

We live to make only One Name remembered, and that is the name of Jesus Christ.

And when that happens, He’ll make you shine forever.
